Heidi Heitkamp Launches TV ad: “Gas Plant”
Ad Outlines Heitkamp’s Plans to Cut Through the Gridlock and Bring North Dakota Energy Innovation to Washington, D.C.
MANDAN, N.D. – Former attorney general and U.S. Senate candidate Heidi Heitkamp released her second
TV ad of the campaign – “Gas Plant.” The ad, which began airing statewide over the weekend, highlights
Heitkamp’s experience working as a director of the Great Plains Synfuels Plant and willingness to bring
North Dakota’s leadership in energy production to Washington, D.C.
“Washington seems to think gridlock is a renewable resource, but that’s hardly led to a coherent energy policy,” said Heitkamp. “I’ll work with anyone in the Senate, regardless of their party, to ensure the Keystone Pipeline gets built, to reduce our dependence on Mideast oil, crack down on oil speculation by big Wall Street traders and to support growing sources of alternate energy like wind and biofuels.”
The campaign ad follows Heitkamp outlining her plans last week to make energy affordable for North Dakota’s middle class families. Her key principles include: ending reckless oil speculation by big Wall Street traders, increasing domestic drilling and energy production, supporting the Keystone XL Pipeline, and supporting alternate energy sources like wind and biofuels.
North Dakota, it should be noted, ranked third in the nation recently in terms of both oil
production and wind energy production.
Heitkamp is a longtime advocate for a strong, multi-pronged energy industry in North Dakota. She believes
North Dakota can be a leader in reducing the country’s dependence on Mideast oil through domestic energy
sources such as natural gas, oil, and renewable energy like solar and wind power.
As a director of Dakota Gasification Company, she believes the Great Plains Synfuels Plant is an example of how innovative projects bring jobs to our state and make wise use of our energy resources. Every day, the plant creates, on average, more than 150 million cubic feet of synthetic natural gas from lignite coal, and captures almost half of the carbon dioxide emissions for further profit. Heitkamp calls it “a marvel on the prairie.”
Heitkamp: If anyone thinks North Dakota’s not an energy leader… they need to come here.
Heitkamp: For over ten years, I’ve been a director of the Great Plains Synfuels Plant.

Heitkamp: It’s the only one like it in the country. We’re creating clean, natural gas and jobs in North Dakota towns.
Heitkamp: We need more innovation like this. But because of Washington gridlock, it’s not happening.
Heitkamp: I’m Heidi Heitkamp and I approved this message because
